Right now we currently have no pets,
since i have highly allergic to Cats and Dogs
but me and my husband are expecting twins in the next few months and we really think a pet would be great
so other than cat or dog, what works well with babies?
(no fish, i want them to be able to hold the animal)
thanks!|||One of Michael Vicks pitt bulls!|||hamster rabbit turtle|||the babies shouldn't be holding a pet while they're so young. wait until they get a little older before you let them hold it.. but, i would recommend a rabbit or a guinea pig. Although, if you train it to do so and depending on the type. A bird would be great because you can get it to sit on your shoulder.|||There is no pet that should ever be held by a child under the age of five or six. So you have a long time before you make a choice. You are going to have your hands full raising twins for a number of years. Don't complicate your life by caring for a pet.
Many people who have cats, dogs, bunnies etc. before they have children have no problems when the babies join the family. All pets are a substantial responsibility and require almost the care and expense as human children.|||wow how wonderful...congrats....i think no pets should be allowed till the children are 2 years old....|||Pretty much any reptile that doesn't have teeth might be good, like those cute little lizzards or turtles at petsmart! i've never had one though, so i don't know how easy it wouldbe for a kid to handle them.
I would say get a gerbil or some other rodent! but then there is the danger of biting. Of all the rodents i've had, i say gerbils are the best and i've never once been bitten by one [i've had 12 total]. Gerbils are also extremely easy to care for. mice are sweet too, but every single one i had suffered[literally] from tumors or terrible skin diseases, and i think it's the same with rats :(|||hey! medium sized rodents are good, because babies can't get it into their mouth, and rodents aren't considered as cat or dog.
example is small rabbit, or big hamster, or medium sized guinea pig.
i prefer hamsters, cause rabbits and guinea pigs had sharp and rough claws. except you cut or you make them soft and no sharp, they're great.
And, rabbits and hamster easily pee. don't want your baby to be dirty of pee? but guinea pig cries a lot, and wakes your baby up.
Viva Rodents! Viva hamsters!
