What do you do with your pets when going on vacation?

We rarely go on vacation but this year we are planning a trip to Europe for a month. Have a dog and two cats. We are new to this town and don't really know anyone. What would be the best thing to do with our pets? If you know the name of a website etc. please include that as well. Thank you very much for any help.|||I would ask a local Vet if they knew of a service in the area. Would not leave them in a Vets clinic though, they are left alone too much anc caged. Best scenario is to find leave the pets in their home and have someone come there. But make sure you put valuables in a bank deposit box for peace of mind. My neighbor hired two local people to make sure that they were taken care of incase one "forgot." How about talking to co-workers to see if they know of a responsible teen that can do it for you?

Good Luck|||sorry. if i can't take my "kids" on a family vacation, i don't go.|||When going away for a day or two, I leave my two dogs with my veterinarian for boarding. However, when leaving home for extended periods of time, I either attempt to take them with me or leave them with a pet sitter. Search your local area for a reputable one. (You may try asking neighbors, co-workers, etc. that may have pets.) Be sure that wherever you leave them, you ask for references and check them out!|||Find a dog slash house sitter. I do it for my moms bosses.|||i work at a vets office and we board alot of animals when our clients go on vacation|||when we go on vacation, we have a friend come by %26amp; feed our animals.

do you have any family members that aren't too far away you could take them to?

another thing is you could contact the local high school %26amp; see if you can advertise for a student who could come by to take care of your animals. (get references, though!!)

I don't like the idea of taking my pets to a kennel, I think it would stress them too much, not to mention, they could get sick.|||Newspaper: advertise for a sitter. Kids always are looking to make some money but check with the parents first. Check for a local kennel, may cost a little, but well worth not worrying.|||You can get a pet sitter. They come %26amp; live at your home whilst you are away. You can also get pet carers who don't stay at your house, they just visit at regular intervals to walk, feed %26amp; play with your pets.|||Hire a pet sitter! Make sure they are licenced and bonded and check references.|||We have our neighbors watch our 2 dogs most of the time. We have used a local kennel %26amp; they seem to be fine. Of course you will need to get references just like you would for babysitters. Maybe ask your vet to refer you to a good kennel or pet sitter.

Good luck and have a great time in Europe|||I've had college students pet-sit before and it's worked out very well.|||There are two things you can do . One you can either ask a family member to watch them, you can pay them for watching them[that's a kind way of doing it]. Two you can take your pets to a animal hospital that will let you board your animals for a month. If you go with choice 2, I rec amend you go to an animal hospital that watches your pets all night long.
