I tried asking this in the pets section but didn't get great answers. Does anyone know what the appropriate thing to do with pets is while showing your home? We work 9-5 and will have a real estate agent showing people the house while we are at work without advanced notice. We have an indoor cat and a dog which is not friendly to strangers. I don't want people to be scared to enter my home. Anyone with advice?|||Unfortunately since the animals aren't friendly to strangers you are limited to what you can do. You can borrow/buy a pet crate for them and put them in the garage or a smaller room the people won't look at for very long anyway. Let the realtors know by putting a note on the door of whatever room, that animals are in the room. I guarantee that a barking dog is not conducive to staying in the room long. Also, make sure that you post a sign that says beware of animals or don't pet the animals. If you can, stop by on your lunch hour to let them out for a break.
Above all, don't let your guilt with putting them in crates sway you. The animals can pick up this strange behavior from you or your partner. Remember that animals respond to alpha actions, in otherwords, they'll follow what the leader says as long as the leader is firm about it.|||Ask your real estate agent.|||Stuff them in the closet..
I'm kidding..lol
Can you put them in their pet crates and keep them at a friend or relatives?|||Consider a pet daycare if there is one in your area. These are usually not too expensive. It would certainly be lot cheaper than being sued for one of them biting someone! Especially since you know beforehand that the dog is not friendly to strangers.|||crate them or take them to a kennel
